DREAM-SPACE:Site-specific audio-visual permanent installation

DREAM-SPACE is a series of sculptures that were developed in collaboration with local residents. It features local people of all ages talking about memories and ideas concerning the Night Sky, and illuminated star maps depicting the stars above London at different times of the year. The oval pictures around the outside of the columns were produced by local schoolchildren.It is a development of the ‘Local Stars’ series, originally commissioned in 2004 by SPACE-PLACE, a London-based arts organization, in consultation with London Borough of Tower Hamlets and local resident organisations. The original sculptures are situated outside the Idea Store at Gladstone Place.The project was funded in 2014 by Higgins Construction PLC and is situated in Roman Place, London. It`s overall construction encourages the general public to move through an illuminated walkway and experience ethereal conversations and memories of a time when one could still view the night sky in London – now largely made invisible through light pollution.
