The study explores the genesis of research into the use of sport in the peace-building process, focusing upon the example of Football4Peace as a mehtodology for intervention in conflict-ridden contexts. Core examples are Northern Ireland, Israel, and South Africa. The book also shows how the authors' intellectual trajectories have shaped a critical sociological approach that helps understand the source of inter-cultural conflicts, but also allows for the evelopment of a critical pragmatism through which interventions can create possibilities of peaceful co-existence
