The uptake and perceptions of the medicines use review service by community pharmacists in England and Wales

The introduction of new contract for community pharmacyhas enhanced the provision of pharmacy services. The con- tract incorporates three levels of services including essential and advanced services which form the national contract and enhanced services which are commissioned locally by primary care trusts. While essential services are obligatory for all contractors, advanced services can be provided by all contractors only once they have gained accreditation for the service and they comply with the requirements of the essen-tial services.1 Medicines use review (MUR) is an advanced service which provides community pharmacists in England and Wales with their first chance within the new contract todemonstrate their true value to their respective communities.2 The aim of this study was to determine how the MUR service has been taken up by pharmacists and their perceptionsabout the service
