Workshop: defining the architecture for next generation inclusive television

For inclusivity and accessibility, the switchover to digital television (DTV) presents great possibilities, but has also introduced new frustrations. New architectures for television reception are in development that in principle will enable much more creative solutions. The workshop is intended to contribute to the development of these new architectures by exploring the issues and problems for inclusive design in digital television, and proposing methods, enhancements and adaptations that new architectures should enable. DTV Practitioners both with and without experience of inclusive development are invited to contribute. The aim of the workshop is to support inclusive design within the interactive television industry by exploring the development both of methods for its incorporation in the design process and technology for its realisation, which are effective and commercially acceptable. The immediate goals of the workshop are: · To collate and summarise the issues that inclusive design raises for digital and interactive television. · To explore new methods for inclusiveness in the design process. · To further establish a multi-disciplinary community with the aim of influencing research, development and policy relevant to inclusive and accessible DTV
