This report showed the survival figures for gastric cancer in Chile. For the whole group, a survival rate of 6.6% was obtained. This figure can be divided into 19% for the resected cases and 0% for the non-resected patients.In the resected group, the mean survival rate was 75.7% for early gastric cancer cases; 48.4% for patients with cancer infiltrations up to the muscularis propria and 21.4% for those with serosal invasions.A mean survival rate of 25.4% was obtained with subtotal distal gastrectomy performed for patients with cancer located in the middle or lower third of the stomach.
