Orgullo y vergüenza en el registro biográfico de varones que se inyectan drogas en Hermosillo, Sonora.

Based on biographical stories compiled in 2015 of injected drug users, an analysis is made of fluctuations between pride and shame as indicators of the quality of social ties at different moments in the trajectories of drug use among two groups of men. The condition of impoverishment and violence faced by the participants during their childhood generated feelings of shame and inadequacy. Throughout their biographies, the subjects seek to build new narratives of themselves in order to compensate the injuries generated by the early feeling of shame. Belonging to deviant groups and the use of drugs are strategies which allow them to gain status and power. However, with the consolidation of the trajectories of drug use, the emotional cost of carrying the stigma of the “addicted” and the social detachment were amplified. The analysis of the participants' socio-emotional experience makes it possible to visualize the mechanisms through which the stigma of drug use is internalized, and the strategies used by the subjects to administer it, as well as the social anchors that make it possible to carry out less risky drug use dynamics.A partir de nueve relatos biográficos de varones que se inyectan drogas de Hermosillo, Sonora, se analizan las fluctuaciones entre orgullo y vergüenza, como indicadores de la calidad de los vínculos sociales en diferentes momentos de sus trayectorias de uso de drogas. Las situaciones de carencia y violencia que enfrentaron los participantes durante su infancia generaron sentimientos de vergüenza e inadecuación. A lo largo de sus biografías los sujetos buscaron construir nuevos relatos de sí mismos para compensar las heridas al self generadas por esa vergüenza temprana. La pertenencia a grupos desviados y el uso de drogas fueron estrategias que les permitieron ganar estatus y poder. Sin embargo, con el afianzamiento de las trayectorias de uso de drogas, creció el costo emocional de portar el estigma de adicto y la desvinculación social. El análisis de la experiencia socioemocional de los participantes permite visibilizar los mecanismos a través de los cuales se internaliza el estigma de ser usuario de drogas y las estrategias que emplean los sujetos para administrarlo, así como los anclajes sociales que hacen posible realizar dinámicas de uso de drogas menos riesgosas
