BACKGROUND: Guidelines recommend primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) presenting ≥12 hours of symptom onset in the presence of ongoing ischemia. However, data supporting this recommendation are limited.
