TINDAKAN KOMUNIKATIF ORANG TUA DALAM PENANGANAN ANAK PENYANDANG AUTISM (Studi fenomenologi pada Ibu-Ibu anggota Parent Support Group di Malang Raya)

The purpose of this study was to reveal the experiences of mothers in the handling of children with autism, mothers' awareness of the existence of gaps in experience with existing systems, as well as communicative actions of mothers who are aware of gaps related to the handling of children with autism. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. Data was collected through observation and interviews to five research subjects who were mothers of children with autism and members of the parent support group in the city of Malang. The data were analyzed by the Interpretative Phenomelogy Analysis (IPA) technique. The results of the study showed that the mother's experience in the diagnosis stage was obtained from a growth and development doctor, or a pediatrician, or a psychiatrist, and a therapist. Then with the school and psychologists, then with family members, and neighbors and communities in public areas. Subject experience also shows Habermasian tension between daily experience and the system in terms of treatment and therapy, goals and targets of school outcomes, and labeling by the community. The practice of communicative action does not meet all levels of communication competence. The subjects chose not to confront arguments with experts because they were "reluctant" and knew themselves. Even the tension with experts is even manipulated with "silent" at the talk in the group for fear of being debated by the pros and cons. The subject feels that his choice is a special choice for the child himself first
