TINDAKAN SOSIAL KONVERSI AGAMA (Studi di Kalangan Umat Klenteng Tri Dharma Kwan Sing Bio Tuban)

Conversion of religion is widely understood by most people as religious events with spiritual dimension. Conversion of religion is no single dimensional, but a complex event is constituted by three substances namely emotions, motives, and expectations of the perpetrators of religious conversion. If religion is understood to have the goal of achieving the pleasure of God, the salvation of life in the world and life after death, then one considers the right or the right way to accomplish it, or if the person takes too long in internal stress caused by a particular problem that has not yet obtained a solution the way out of that inward pressure by embracing a new religion that is believed to lead him out of that inward pressure. Max Weber with social action theory explains the category of social action in the social action of conversion of religion as a phenomenon that existed among the people of Tri Dharma Pagoda in Tri Dharma Kwan Sing Bio Temple. This research attempts to uncover the process of social action of religious conversion by using the analysis of social action theory Max Weber which categorizes social action to explain the phenomenon of religious conversion of religion that occurred among Buddhist Tri Dharma Kwan Sing Bio Buddhist, Confucian, Taoist perform social action conversion religion to Catholicism/Christian/Moslem, as a phenomenological study with qualitative analysis approach using primary and secondary data sources, through observation and interviews of research subjects and research informants to obtain in-depth descriptions (Verstehen) of religious conversion. In the context of this research, the writer deepens the social conversion of some ethnic Chinese community of Klenteng Tri Dharma people who perform religious conversion to Catholicism/Christian/Moslem, among others, there are those who return to become Buddhist Tri Dharma with Confucianism, Confucianism, Taoism, and some do not return to the Klenteng Tri Dharma people, using the approach of the category of social action Max Weber to explain the emotions, motives, and expectations that occur from their religious conversion, in order to know the categories of religious conversion they more clearly, then produce the implications of meaning individually and socially as reflected in personal piety and social piety as the embodiment of religious and social values attached to them after performing religious conversion. The results of this study conclude that: (1). The social action of religious conversion that occurs among the Tri Dharma Kwan Sing Bio Klenteng people does not always happen in the social action of religious conversion based on the purpose, but there is a more meaningful social conversion action that is the social action of religious conversion based on the value which prioritizes the sanctity of the values in the implementation of religious teachings in kaffah (totally) as happened in the social conversion of religious conversion into Islam, (2). For the perpetrators of the conversion of Islam, they did not return to Tri Dharma Kwan Sing Bio temple in the sense of "breaking up" in aqidah (belief) and religious rituals of Klenteng, even though under the pretext of tolerance, it did not happen again until the end of his life. Once Islam, remain Islam kaffah (totally) until the end of his life (death) him, (3). The social action of religious conversion that happened to some ethnic Chinese community of Klenteng Tri Dharma community has implications of meaning individually and socially. Individual implications are mainly seen in converts converting religious converts into Islam, performing religious conversion of social actions with social categories of religious conversion based on values, highly upholding the values of religious teachings in kaffah (totally) , has the consistency of aqidah (belief) is no longer want to be a modern jahiliyah with a determination to live religious teachings consistently (istiqomah) until the end of his life (death). However, the implications of social meaning by not denying some of the actors of religious conversion of other types of categories such as the category of religious conversion with traditional action, appear more maximally materially devoted themselves to social service after returning to Tri Dharma Kwan Sing BioTemple, on religious social rituals on religious festivals of Tri Dharma Triumph, such as: lunar new year and cap go meh, which likes to divide "angpao" (envelopes containing money or gifts) to fellow or society around the temple desperately need a helping hand in a material way
