Paul le mystique

The apostle Paul has the reputation of being a theologian who is efficient in argumentation and more inclined to rationality than to flights of ecstasy. However, an attentive examination of his correspondence brings to light the presence of religious experiences which the apostle recounts and which we cannot hesitate to qualify as mystical. The signs are discreet, but undeniable : speaking in tongues, charismatic healings, ecstasies and visions. Daniel Margerat’s enquiry draws up the list of these experiences and brings out the interpretation of them given by the apostle. It is even possible to speak of a subversion of Paul’s mystical experience.L’apôtre Paul a la réputation d’être un théologien performant dans l’argumentation, plus enclin à la rationalité qu’aux envols extatiques.
