Among several possible methods to obtain optical constants of non-transparent minerals, the microphotometric method under normal incidence with two different immersion media was chosen, because it allows the study of microscopic and anisotropic minerals. This method has been applied to gold, copper, arsenic — all native — quartz, ilmenite and geikielite, and then discussed.
