Le cercueil de Tja-en-Khonsou du Muséum de Lyon

The study of the anthropoid inner coffin of Tja-en-Khonsou, belonging to the Muséum d'Histoire naturelle in Lyon, listed as n° 90000829, is decorated on its four sides with formula offerings and spells from the Book of the Dead. Thanks to the comparison of typological, textual and onomastical indices, the deceased's genealogy allows us a relatively precise dating. The man to whom this coffin belonged probably lived at the beginning of the XXVIth Dynasty under the reign of Psammetichus I who conquered the country by opposing Mon-tuemhat after having driven the Assyrians from Egypt. He consolidated his victory by the hegemony he conferred on the clergy of Amon to which Tja-en-Khonsou belonged, rather than on the clergy of Mon-tu of whom his ancestors had been the dignitaries.L'étude du cercueil intérieur anthropomorphe de Tja-en-Khonsou, appartenant au Muséum d'Histoire naturelle de Lyon, inventorié sous le n° 90000829, est décoré sur ses quatre côtés d'offrandes funéraires et d'extraits du Livre des Morts. La généalogie du défunt nous permet, grâce à la comparaison d'indices typologiques, textuels et ono-mastiques, une datation relativement précise. Le défunt auquel appartient ce cercueil aurait vécu au début de la XXVIème dynastie sous le règne de Psam-métique I. Ce dernier a conquis le pays en s'opposant à Montouemhat après avoir chassé les Assyriens d'Egypte. Il traduisit sa victoire par l'hégémonie qu'il conféra au clergé d'Amon à Thèbes auquel Tja-en-Khonsou appartenait, plutôt qu'au clergé de Montou dont ses ancêtres avaient été les dignitaires.Gay Véronique, Petitpa Marie-Christine.
