By adding to the RIGAKU microdiffracter some simple attachments (e.g. a graduation for the sample oscillation axis, a mask and a graduation for the ring-shaped receiving slit counter), the direction of the X-rays reflected by the microscopic minerals of a thin section can be localized. Therefore it is possible to calculate the initial directions of the normal vectors to the diffracting reticular planes. For the identified minerals, the types of indices of the above planes are given by the diffraction angles. If a consistent indexing is possible for some directions (taking into account their angles) these directions are considered as belonging to only one crystal and are used for calculating those of its crystallographical axes.
