Persian mystical poetry in the classical period (approximately from the tenth to the fifteenth century AD) is characterized, inter alia, by the extreme wealth of its symbolic vocabularies : lexicons of eroticism, beauty of nature and of human beings, drunkenness, immorality and debauchery ... The phenomenon has been extensively studied by specialists. The present study is not about these technicalities but another one : a particular semantic layer, remained rather unknown, hidden beneath these lexicons, relevant to ascetic practices and spiritual exercises.
