Patrick André, A Breton mediaeval village of the 11th century : Lann-Gouh Melrand (Morbihan ). The resumption of digs carried out to a limited extent only at the beginning of the century in an abandoned village in central Brittany has brought to the light of day, after four years of research, a 9th century habitat. A number of constructions remain from an enclosed villaged located high over the ground, a village where poor peasants made their living from breeding animals on a modest scale and raising cereals over a small area. Occasionally of a mixed style, the houses have open hearths and include the ceramicware generally found at mediaeval Breton sites.
