Paleocene foraminifera from the well Ashtart E-1 (Gulf of Gabes, Tunisia). Biostratigraphy and paleoenvironments. The offshore well Ashtart E-1, located in the Gulf of Gabes (SE Tunisia), presents well preserved microfaunal assemblages of a Paleocene sequence, 470 meters thick, in shelf environments. This Paleocene series (El Haria and Tselja Formations) is intercalated between Maastrichtian (Abiod Fm.) and Ypresian (Chouabine Fm.) strata. The foraminiferal content reveals a depositional gap between the gansseri Zone (Abiod Fm.) and the trinidadensis Zone (lower part of the El Haria Fm.).
