Comparative diagenetic study of Modern and Quaternary coral reefs from the Egyptian Coast, Red Sea. Comparative sedimentological and geochemical study of Modern and Quaternary coral reefs along the Egyptian Coast of the Red Sea led to the definition of a diagenetic sequence having rapidly evolved from submarine through continental ends. The identified diagenetic fabrics include : submarine early cements (acicular, sphero-litic and needles aragonite having Sr content averaging 8930 ppm ; fibrous, micritic and peloidal HMC containing an MgC03 average of 18.1 to 13.6 mol.%), continental LMC cements (scalenohedrons, rhombic and composite spar, with average MgC03 (3.2 mol.%), dissolution traces, neomorphic LMC, calcian dolomite and gypsum and s...
