In Provence three Rudists bearing formations may be identified, the first one dated as upper Albian-early Cenomanian, the second one as middle Cenomanian-upper Cenomanian, the third one as upper Cenomanian-early Turonian. The abundance of Rudists and Foraminiferas, the existence of index Ammonites allow one to realize a minute biostratigraphic investigation. Each one of these formations displays a regressive sedimentologic and paleoecologic evolution, "margino-littoral" populations replacing reef populations. The Caprinidae are dominating in the three formations. According to d'Orbigny's conceptions, the Rudists may be used to work out a biozonation of the Cenomanian and to settle its limits. The Cenomanian-Turonian boundary is characterize...
