Fouilles de sauvetage sur les rives de l'Euphrate. Année 2002

The rescue excavations conducted in 2002 on the banks of the lake revealed several new houses or new rooms in houses that had been partially excavated before. First of all, in Zone 9, thanks to a mosaic unearthed by the waves, a house was located and investigated. It had two architectural phases. A room (room 2) belonged to the later phase, dated to the beginning of the Byzantine period. It had been built upon an earlier room (room I ) the mosaic pavement of which depicts, in a central panel, Gaia. Finally, a rock cut tomb shows that this area was a necropolis before being occu¬ pied by houses. An excavation carried out to the East of trenches ZAP 16-17 has given the opportunity to study a house which also presented two architectural phases. The triclinium with a mosaic pavement (room 1 ) depicting mythological scenes (Theonoe and Achilles at Skyros) and signed by Quintus Calpurnius, was built in the IInd or Illnl c. AD. Its pavement went on being used when this room was modified between the IVth and the VIth c. : a fountain and a corridor (corridor 2) were added. Finally, trench 13 could be enlarged. Five new rooms were revealed, among which an implu¬ vium (G2) as well as two corridors, a cistern and a cellar (G5 ). The property, called "House of the Guillochis" , seems to have been destroyed by fire around the middle or the third quarter of the IIIrd c. AD.2002 yılında baraj gölü kıyısında yürütülen kurtarma kazıları hem yeni evlerin hem de daha önce kısmen açığa çıkarılmış olan evlerde yeni mekanların bulunmasını sağlamıştır. 9. Bölgede göldeki dalgalar sonucu açığa çıkmış olan bir mozaiğin yardımıyla yeri saptanabilen yeni bir evin kazısı gerçekleştirilmiştir. Söz konusu evde iki mimari evre saptanmıştır. Mekanlardan biri (Oda 2) Bizans döneminin bağlarına tarihlenen geç evreye aitti ve daha eski bir mekanın (Oda 1 ) üzerine inşa edilmişti. Erken evreye ait bu mekanın zemini, merkezinde Gaia'nin betimlendiği bir levha bulunan bir mozaikle bezenmişti. Kayaya oyulmuş olan bir mezar bu bölgenin iskan edilmeden önce nekropol olarak kullanıldığına işaret etmektedir. ZAP 16-17 şantiyelerinin dogusunda yaptığımız kazılarda da iki mimari evresi bulunan bir ev açığa çıkarılmıştir. Bu evin , mitolojiden alınma sahnelerin (Skyros'ta Ahilleus ile Theonoe) yer aldığı, Quintus Calpurnius'un imzasını taşıyan bir zemin mozaiğiyle bezeli olan triclinium'un M.S. II. ya da III.yy.'da inşa edilmiştir. Daha soma mekan, bir çeşme ve bir koridorun eklenmesiyle M.S. III.yy.'ın üçüncü çeyreğinde değişikliğe uğramışsa da mozaik bu dönemde de kullanılmaya devam edilmiştir. Öte yandan 7/13 şantiyesi genişletilerek, impluvium'lu bir oda (G2), iki koridor, bir sarnıç ve bir mahzenden (G5) oluşan beş yeni mekan açığa çıkarılmıştır. "Giyoş Evi" olarak adlandırılan bu yapının M.S. III.yy.'ın ortalarında ya da üçüncü çeyreğinde yangın sonucu tahrip olduğu sanılmaktadır.Önal Mehmet, Jean Éric.
