K-Ar ages of the Antalya ophiolites (Turkey). Geological implications

A K-Ar investigation has been carried out on cumulate rocks from ophiolites from the western Tauric belt (Turkey) such as the Lycian nappes, the Antalya and Pozanti-Karsanti massifs. The results on amphiboles are reasonably reliable and point to a crystallization age of 80 Ma in the case of Antalya. The short time span of 13 Ma between crystallization and obduction of the complex severely constrains the evolution models proposed for the region. A critical review of possible solutions is done in the light of this new datum.Une étude potassium-argon a été faite sur des cumulats provenant d'ophiolites de la chaîne taurique (Turquie) telles que les nappes lyciennes, Antalya et Pozanti-Karsanti. Les résultats obtenus sur amphiboles permettent raisonnablement de conclure pour Antalya à un âge de cristallisation de 80 Ma. Le court espace de temps séparant la formation du complexe de son obduction, 13 Ma environ, impose de sérieuses contraintes aux schémas d'évolution géodynamique proposés pour cette région.
