The major purpose of this investigation was to determine the role expectations of early adolescents, and to determine if selected background factors influenced the feminine and masculine role expectations of early adolescents.The role expectations were studied in relation to (1) the father’s occupational class, (2) family composition, (3) sex, and (4) going steady. A Personal Data Questionnaire and the Dunn Marriage Role Expectation Inventory, as revised for use with early adolescents, were administered to 181 ninth-grade students at the Early Adolescents at the East Educational Complex in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 5, 1968, during the students’ regular study sessions.The inventories were scored and analyzed by electronic computer.The F-t...
