Anyone who has seriously studied United States-American Indian relations will be familiar with the work of Francis Paul Prucha. Perhaps the foremost scholar in this area, Prucha has published more than 20 books over the course of three decades, including the definitive synthesis of Federal Indian policy, The Great Father, which appeared in 1984 (Lincoln: University of Nebraska Press).
