The "Bulletins of the Public Health," published in accordance with the National Quarantine Act of April 29, 1878, were issued from this office weekly, from July 13, 1878, to May 24, 1870, inclusive, compiled from the reports received during the periods in which the recent epidemics of the plague in Russia and, yellow-fever in the United States prevailed, the latter by far the most disastrous epidemic of yellow-fever that has yet visited America. These reports were originally published on separate sheets by the papyrographic process, which was ill adapted for permanent record; and it was impracticable that any considerable number could be furnished to those desiring those.
