International audienceThis paper is based on a study about the use of internet during the campaign for the 2012 French presidential election. It shows how various forms of mediatisation shape political communication practices as well as the tools used to campaign on line (websites and digital social networks) and how journalists write about what is happening online during the campaign. Our approach focuses on news produced by journalists, but also on the way mediatisation shapes on line strategies and tools of the candidates. In such situation, mediatisation seems to be something obvious, but not really thought about.
