BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The annual winter outbreak of influenza is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality among frail elderly people. The aims of the present study were to describe the prevalence of vaccination against influenza in a population of older people living in the community, and to examine the relationship between influenza vaccination and mortality. METHODS: This was an observational cohort study. We analyzed data from the Italian Silver Network Home Care project, which collected data on patients admitted to home care programs.
