L’abitato dell’antica Età del bronzo di Canàr (Castelnovo Bariano, Rovigo)

SUMMARY - The Early Bronze Age settlement of Can\ue0r (Castelnovo Bariano, Rovigo) - Since the first discoveries, the site of Can\ue0r has attracted a great interest due to presence of pottery that provides significant data to establish relations with the middle course of Danube, in particular with the Wieselburg-Gata culture. This aspect has contributed to highlight a sort of eccentricity of Can\ue0r compared to Polada culture (the Early Bronze Age culture in the Sub-alpine region and in the Central and Eastern Po Valley). It must be emphasized that many aspects of Polada culture are present in the Can\ue0r settlement. After the start of the excavations the importance of the site has increased for the discovery of a pile-dwelling and the possibility to carry out dendrochronological dating. The phase I, characterized by pile-dwelling structures, is related to an advanced stage of the Early Bronze Age I (EBA I C), whereas the phase II is dating to the final period of the EBA (EBA II). During phase II the cultural aspects of late Polada type have increased considerably. A small number of carinated cups with axe shaped handle and bowls with sharp carination and bobbin type lugs may indicate that the end of the settlement took place at the very beginning of the MBA
