Positronium (Ps) has been the subject of several experimental and theoretical investigations due to its many scientific applications. In this work high positronium yield was found in engineered porous silica. The studied materials were pellets of swollen MCM-41 and of commercial Davicat 1700, obtained by different compression pressures, with mesopores characterized by different structural and chemical features. The measurements were performed with a variable energy positron beam at room temperature. An estimation of the Ps mean diffusion length was obtained by measuring capped samples.
