Objectives Aim of this paper is to describe the main adverse drug reactions in the oral cavity summing up data reported in the scientific literature. Material and methods The scientific databases PuBmed, EmBase e Scopus have been investigated in order to collect relevant reports. Results and conclusions None medications can be considered free of side effects. Many of the adverse drug reactions can affect the oral cavity thus involving the dental practitioner first. The clinician must be able to recognize and treat the possible oral drug complications and before planning any pharmacological treatment he should carefully consider risk factors such as age, sex, medical history, genetic predisposing pattern, previous adverse drug reactions
