OBJECTIVE: Patients with hereditary hemochromatosis are at high risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma. This study was undertaken to define whether large cell change and nucleolar organizer regions proliferative index (marker of high proliferative activity) predict hepatocellular carcinoma development in hereditary hemochromatosis.
