Oral implants represent nowadays a consolidated tool for the rehabilitation of edentulous patients, with excellent long-term results. Very frequently however, due to lack of bone, soft tissues, and/or unfavorable intermaxillary relationship, implant placement may become difficult, impossible, or inadequate from a prosthetic point of view. Therefore, clinicians must perform reconstructive/regenerative procedures of the deficient alveolar ridges in order to recreate more favorable conditions for implant placement. Aim of this lecture is to present an updated overview concerning the present possibilities of alveolar bone reconstruction/regeneration in case of moderate and severe bone deficits
