An unusual incidence peak of infant seborrhoeic dermatitis in the first year of life in the years 1978-1980 is reported on the basis of a retrospective study of work done at the outpatient service of the Department of Clinical Dermatology I and Paediatric Dermatology of the University of Milan over a 12-year period (1974-1985). This finding suggests that exogenous factors are important in the pathogenesis of the disease
