Objectives. The treatment planning of congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisors is often challenging because of the high aesthetic value of their seat. Aim of this work is to describe the main treatment choices reported in the literature together with their indications and protocols. Methods. Treatment planning must consider both patient-related factors (age, compliance, type and severity of malocclusion) and his expectations. Results. Conservative approach is possible with remodelling of deciduous maxillary lateral incisors by composite resin. However, it should be considered a short-term solution.
