New chiral dipyridine N-monoxides and N,N′-dioxides, which possess an isopropylidene backbone between two pyridine rings, have been prepared from naturally occurring monoterpenes. Their utility as organocatalysts has been demonstrated in the enantioselective addition of allyltrichlorosilane to aldehydes.
