In this paper, we describe the MX-Onto ontology for semantic classification of music resources based on their context. The context representation is realized by means of an OWL ontology that describes music information and that defines rules and classes for a flexible classification capturing the subjective interpretation of the genre. The use of the MX-Onto knowledge for supporting music resource searches based on similarity techniques is also discussed
