Towards the end of the 1980s, the President of the European Commission Jacques Delors predicted that in a decade most of the domestic legislation would be decided in Brussels. Apart from the necessity to interpret more or less rigidly this «prophecy», the famous Delors’ statement has the merit to raise an interesting empirical question: what is the scope of Europeanization of national lawmaking? Firstly, this article discusses the methodological problems posed by an accurate measurement of the amount of legislation induced by EU membership.
