The article deals with the issue of the participation of civil society to international criminal proceedings, by focusing on the role played by NGOs within the internationalized Special Panels for Serious Crimes; notwithstanding amicus curiae intervention is not provided for, in the context of these tribunals NGOs made a very important contribution to the human rights protection monitoring process, the most controversial issue which the Special Panels confronted with during their activity
