In Brazil there is no occurrence of sodium bentonite, because of that, companies that explore this mineral raw material using a denominated sodium activation process, which is the exchange of cations in the interlayer space by Na+. Through this process, the bentonite present considerable improvements in their properties rheologies. However, after some time, these properties decline, which has been called deactivation.
