U.S. Census data and demographic maps of cities typically group all people of the Latinx ethnicity into one category. In cities like Chicago, with high levels of segregation across all racial and ethnic groups, Latinx neighborhoods may be viewed as all one type of place. This assumption may lead to beliefs that there is a monoculture of this type of place, and assumptions on how this affects behavior, needs, and interests.
