The objectives of this research were to find out (1) the cognitive readiness of the students of English Education Study Program in Parepare, and (2) the most dominant impacting factor of their cognitive readiness in learning English. This research employed a descriptive research design with mix method research; quantitative and qualitative method. The population of this research was the students of English Education Study Program at Faculty of Languages and Literature, State University of Makassar in academic year 2018/2019.
