International audienceThe article here presented is the result of a research study based on an experience of linguistic pairs (tandem) by e-mail, carried out in the context of the Major in Modern Languages at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, in Bogotá (Colombia). It is focused on the asynchronous communication between Colombian and French students in an attempt to facilitate their communication and joint construction of their own learning. Based on the analysis of a corpus comprising 522 electronic messages between speakers with different mother tongues, the article aims at finding out how Colombian and French students establish interpersonal relations and achieve foreign language appropriation.
