Introduction: Healthcare associated infections (HAIs) are a global problem and lead to a large burden for the patients, healthcare systems and society. In low and middle-income countries the burden and prevalence is higher than in high-income countries. It is possible with good prevention to reduce the prevalence and burden of healthcare associated infections.
