He received his D.V.M. degree from The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas in 1933. He worked for the U.S. Government and practiced until World War II. He served as a U.S. Army Veterinarian during the war and later retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
