Análisis prospectivo de la cadena productiva de palma africana para obtención de biodiesel en Colombia

The substitution of fossil fuel for one of biological origin, has become one of the great challenges for Colombia and the whole world, becoming a viable alternative the production and use of biofuels, because these do not increase the emissions of CO2 and other gaseous emissions that pollute the atmosphere, as opposed to diesel of fossil origin which negatively impacts the environment and human health. The purpose of this article is to make an analysis of the prospective of the African palm production chain to obtain biodiesel in Colombia and its environmental impact. Therefore, a type of documentary research was proposed, which consists in extracting, compiling, organizing and synthesizing the relevant information of the subject, in order to disseminate a reference material. The results show that although biodiesel is a viable alternative to contribute to the environment, it has advantages and disadvantages for its production, in terms of road infrastructure, environmental regulations, biofuel blends policy with fossil fuels, skilled labor, technologies, among others.La sustitución del combustible de origen fósil por uno de origen biológico, se ha transformado en uno de los grandes retos para Colombia y el mundo entero, convirtiéndose en una alternativa más viable la producción y utilización de biocombustibles, debido a que estos no incrementan las emisiones de CO2 y demás emisiones gaseosas que contaminan la atmosfera, a diferencia del diesel de origen fósil el cual impacta negativamente al medio ambiente y la salud humana. El propósito del presente artículo es hacer un análisis de la prospectiva de la cadena productiva de palma africana para obtención de biodiesel en Colombia y su impacto ambiental. Por lo anterior, se propuso un tipo de investigación documental, la cual consiste en extraer, recopilar, organizar y sintetizar la información relevante del tema, con el fin de difundir un material de consulta. Los resultados muestran que a pesar de que el biodiesel es una alternativa viable para contribuir con el medio ambiente, presenta ventajas y desventajas para su producción, en cuanto a la infraestructura vial, normatividad ambiental, política de mezclas de biocombustibles con combustibles de origen fósil, mano de obra calificada, tecnologías, entre otras
