Granule progenitor cells (GPCs) in the developing zebrafish cerebellum migrate along chains. Cadherin-2 was found to mediate this chain migration and to function in the establishment and maintenance of GPC polarization, orientation and directional migration along chains. The absence of Cadherin-2 in GPCs leads to their ectopic positioning and cell death. In vivo imaging further revealed that GPCs dynamically re-locate Cadherin-2 while migrating along chains.
