The aim of the thesis is to simulate a turbulent mixing zone resulting from the Richtmyer-Meshkov instability using a probability density function (PDF) model. An emphasis is put on the analysis of the turbulent kinetic energy transport. To this end, we first highlight the link existing between the one-point statistics of the flow and its initial conditions at large scales. This link is expressed through the principle of permanence of large eddies, and allows to establish predictions for quantities of the mixing zone, such as its growth rate or its anisotropy. We then derive a Langevin PDF model which is able to reproduce this dependency of the statistics on the initial conditions. This model is then validated by comparing it against large ...
