Tribocorrosion is a poorly understood material degradation process where wear and corrosion processes occur simultaneously. It is an especially important problem in, for example, hydrometallurgical processes, pulp and paper industry, and biomedical engineering. In tribocorrosion contacts, thewear and corrosion processes have a synergistic behaviour, and may enhance or inhibit each other. Previous research into the tribocorrosion behaviour of low-alloy steels is limited. This thesis examines the tribocorrosion behaviour of four low-alloy steels in two contact types.
