Urticaria is a common disorder which affects up to 20% of population. It can present with or without angioedema. The most common causes of angioedema are angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor-induced angioedema and idiopathic angioedema. Hereditary angioedema (HAE) or acquired angioedema (AAE) are much rarer. The management of urticaria and angioedema involves both prophylaxis to prevent the episodes of attack and pharmacotherapy to treat the attacks.
