Indicadores de producción de huevo de gallinas criollas en el trópico de México

The objective of this study was to obtain indicators of production traits and to determine the effect of genotype on those traits in Creole chickens. The study was carried in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, which has a tropical sub-humid climate. The genotypes of the hens (n= 308) were: homozygous naked neck, hetero-zygous naked neck and normally feathered, and they were born by artificial insemination from a population of Creole birds. The birds were kept individually in cages from week 18 to week 39 of age, and were given commercial food with 16% crude protein and 2900 kcal/kg of metabolizable energy, 3.5% calcium and 0.44% phosphorus. The traits studied were: age at first egg (EPH), weight of the first egg (PPH), weight of the egg during the laying period (PH), number of eggs per hen (NH), hen rate of egg production per day (PHAD) and hen housed egg production (PHAE) up to 39 weeks of age, average weight of the eggs for the whole period of study (PH); clutch size and laying pause. Data for EPH, PPH, PH, NH, PHAD and PHAE were analyzed using analysis of variances, which included the effects of hatch and genotype and also week for PH. The arithmetic means and standard deviations for EPH, PPH, PH, NH, PHAD and PHAE were: 154,4 ± 11,3 days, 45.3 ± 6.8 g, 54.0 ± 5.2 g, 59.0 ± 12.9 eggs, 57.8 ± 10.7% and 52.6 ± 5.7%, respectively. The medians of clutch size and pause duration were two eggs and one day, respectively. El estudio se realizó en Mérida, Yucatán, México, de clima cálido subhúmedo con lluvias en verano. Las aves experimentales (n=308) pertenecían a los genotipos cuello desnudo homocigoto, cuello desnudo heterocigoto y homocigóticos al gen de emplume, obtenidos por inseminación artificial de una población de aves Criollas. Las aves se confinaron individualmente en jaulas de postura de las 18 a las 39 semanas de edad, y recibieron alimento con 16% de proteína bruta y 2900 kcal/kg de energía meta-bolizable, 3,5% de calcio y 0,44% de fósforo y recibieron luz natural. Las características estudiadas fueron: edad a la puesta del primer huevo (EPH), peso del primer huevo (PPH), peso del huevo durante el periodo de puesta (PH), número de huevos por gallina (NH), producción de huevo-ave-día (PHAD) y ave encasetada (PHAE) hasta las 39 semanas de edad, peso del huevo durante el periodo de estudio, número de huevos por nidada y duración de la pausa en postura. Los datos de EPH, PPH, NH, PHAD y PHAE se analizaron mediante análisis de varianza que incluyeron los efectos de lote de incubación y genotipo y además de semana para PH. Las medias aritméticas y desviaciones estándares de EPH, PPH, PH, NH, PHAD y PHAE fueron: 154,4 ± 11,3 días, 45,3 ± 6,8 g, 54,0 ± 5,2 g, 59,0 ± 12,9 huevos, 57,8 ± 10,7% y 52,6 ± 5,7%, respectivamente.
