¿Se puede favorecer el aprendizaje de valores a través de las narraciones televisivas?

This article includes some of the results of the different research projects carried out over the last decades on the educational power of television as a resource, content and language. TV stories are seen as discourses that explicitly or implicitly transmit the socially prevailing values, which do not always correspond with the desirable educational values. From an ecological perspective, the starting hypothesis is that if a good use is made of the television, it may contribute to the learning of values. Television is a parallel and non-established curriculum that may and must be a source for the teaching and learning of values. The Hall&Tonna model is proposed as a reference framework for the analysis of values, and the interpretation of situations, films and values as a method for visualizing TV stories in educational contexts.En este artículo se recogen algunos resultados de las diversas investigaciones realizadas en las últimas décadas en torno al poder educativo de la televisión bajo tres dimensiones: como medio, como contenido y como lenguaje. Las narraciones televisivas se consideran discursos que transmiten explícita o implícitamente los valores socialmente predominantes, que no siempre coinciden con los valores deseables desde el punto de vista educativo. Se parte de la hipótesis, desde una perspectiva ecológica, de que el medio televisivo bien utilizado puede favorecer el aprendizaje de valores. La televisión constituye un currículo paralelo y no programado que puede y debe ser fuente de enseñanza y aprendizaje de valores. Se propone el modelo de Hall&Tonna como marco referencial de análisis de valores y la lectura situacional, fílmica y valorativa, como metodología para visualizar las narraciones televisivas en contextos educativos
