Recent developments in genetic engineering continue to generate profound ethical, legal and social questions over the impact they may have on individuals, as well as on the human species as a whole. The bioethics expert Leon R. Kass has done much research on the consequences of these advances, particularly regarding human cloning. Although human cloning has been banned in most countries, there remain complex issues that still need to be addressed.
